Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Sauté Onions and Thyme: Heat a small skillet over medium heat and sauté the chopped onions until soft and translucent (about 5-7 minutes). Add thyme for the last minute of cooking. Set aside to cool.
  • Mix the Meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onions and thyme, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Press it down to form a uniform shape and smooth the top.
  • Apply the Glaze: Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Rest the Meatloaf: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.

Notes

  • This meatloaf can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
