Cuisine American
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Sauté Onions and Thyme: Heat a small skillet over medium heat and sauté the chopped onions until soft and translucent (about 5-7 minutes). Add thyme for the last minute of cooking. Set aside to cool.
Mix the Meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onions and thyme, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Press it down to form a uniform shape and smooth the top.
Apply the Glaze: Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.
Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Rest the Meatloaf: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
